A Reader Asked

Does anyone have a favourite restaurant in Aurora? Great food? Great ambiance? Superb service?

Also, does anyone know of an indian grocery store in the immediate area?

I have always liked King Henry Arms on Yonge Street just north of Howard Johnsons.
The service is always great and the food is amazing, especially considering the price. They have a great wine and beer selection and many great specials every day. I try to get there at least once a week as I know how good it is.
On Thursday night they have entertainment and the place is packed but well worth the wait.

Mercury Diner is good for a "feed", especially if you have kids. Good portions for value, broad menu and very fresh.
Real homefries for their all-day breakfast, and the burgers are tasty.
Except for when the booth TVs are too loud, it is good for a quick and relatively inexpensive bite.

I second the choice of KHA - good food and great service for a pub night. If you're looking to push the boat out Joia is next door and also does a great job.

Good question. We have lived here for many years and have always found that good restaraunts is one of the missing elements here in town. Frankly, most have nothing special to separate them from every other restaurant around.

Two that do come to mind are Gabriels and King Henry Arms -- both on Yonge. I am not sure Gabriels is open in the evenings.

It would be great to see some new restaraunts that are not just chains available in every other town.

In addition to great food and great service -- they need to have great value. Those 3 ingedients are what will separate them from the pack.

My favourite Aurora restaurant has always been the Graystones for delicious, comforting home cooked Austrian food served by gracious and attentive staff. There are many different types of schnitzels, dumplings, apple strudel etc.
