2009 Council ControversyIt will be interesting to see how long before someone tries to remove these factual links from the site.
In August 2009 a controversy erupted when the Aurora town council fired its integrity commissioner in a special meeting after receiving his first decision on a contentious issue. Three of eight councillors were absent from the special meeting. The mayor and five councillors who were present at the special meeting had filed a complaint with the integrity commissioner against councillor Evelyn Buck for comments made in her blog. Although the integrity commissioner's report has not been released to the public, it is believed that he dismissed the complaint.[6][7] The council was criticized for the decision to fire the integrity commissioner.[8]

Another proud moment for Aurora. Thank you Phyllis and the gang of five. I guess we're not "Hip and Upscale" anymore.

I think Aurora already "made" Wikipedia when it became, you know, like a town more than 100 years ago?
And while I think that those 5 or 6 councillors that fired the integrity commissioner are totally ridiculous, I'm not sure this whole controversy belongs in the Wikipedia article on the town, even though the person that added it has cited their additions.
But Wikipedia has good systems for policing itself (anyone can edit it). If meant to stay, it will stay.
Interesting that in Era Banner Sher Kitts signs off as from Aurora, but in current Auroran same letter says Snowball. I guess honorary citizen doen't apply to letter writing.
Of course Wikipedia is not held in high regard by anyone who wants accurate information. The Aurora entries are "accurate" as they quote newspaper articles. There are not many teachers that approve of students using Wikipedia for research.

Once upon a time I looked up Aurora on Wikipedia and there was a live link to Phyllis Morris' website, so I added a link to Evelyn's website and a few days later they were both deleted by the editing squad.
You folks (I mean the "moderators" of this site) take Wikipedia seriously?
